Graduate School of Management and Innovation and Alumni Congratulate New Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency Director, Strengthen Collaboration in Geo-Innovation for Thailand
The Graduate School of Management and Innovation (GMI), King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), together with its executives and alumni, extended congratulations to Dr. Pakorn Apaphant on his appointment as Director of the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) on 10 March 2026. The visit also included in-depth discussions on potential collaboration in leveraging space and geo-informatics innovation to drive national development across multiple dimensions.
The delegation was led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Parames Woraseyanont, Associate Dean for Partnership Affairs, GMI, along with Dr. Anon Tubtiang, Independent Scholar, and Mr. Peera Yaiyungyuen, Managing Director of Bizcom Professional Network Co., Ltd., representing GMI alumni and leadership from the alumni association.
During the meeting, participants exchanged perspectives with Dr. Pakorn on several key areas, including:
• Smart City development in Thailand
• Space and geo-informatics data sharing
• International policies on satellite coordination and space debris management
• Utilization of space data for socio-economic development
• Capacity building for geo-informatics professionals
• Strengthening collaboration between academic institutions and government agencies such as GISTDA
Dr. Anon emphasized the potential of data integration to develop versatile platforms that enable new applications, including the integration of Augmented Reality (AR) with geo-informatics and space data—making innovation more accessible and impactful for both the public and industry sectors.
