KMUTT University Council Approves GMI Name Change and Expansion into Undergraduate and Doctoral Education
King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) held the 325th Mobile Meeting of the KMUTT University Council on 2 September 2026 at the GMI Building.
Prior to the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Taweesak Kritcharoen, Dean of GMI, led the University Council members on a visit to an exhibition showcasing 12 outstanding academic and innovation achievements of GMI across four key areas:

👉 Teaching and Learning Development
👉 Research
👉 Academic and Social Services
During the meeting, the University Council reviewed GMI’s overall operations and approved several significant agendas marking an important step toward the institution’s future development:
1. Approval of GMI’s New Name
The Council approved the change of the institution’s name from “Graduate School of Management and Innovation” to “GMI School of Management and Innovation.” The new name reflects GMI’s expanded mission to provide education across multiple levels and supports its Future Ready direction.
2. Approval of a New Undergraduate Program
The Council approved the establishment of a new undergraduate program, the Bachelor of Business Administration Program in Business Management, which has been incorporated into KMUTT’s 13th Strategic Plan. The program is scheduled to welcome its first cohort of students in Semester 1 of Academic Year 2027.
3. Approval of a New Doctoral Program
The Council also approved the establishment of a new doctoral program, the Doctor of Business Administration Program in Management, which will commence from Semester 2 of Academic Year 2026 onward.
These approvals mark an important milestone in GMI’s transformation and reflect its commitment to expanding educational opportunities across Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral levels.
With its new direction, GMI continues to advance as a future-ready institution that integrates management, innovation, technology, research, and practical learning to develop professionals and leaders capable of creating value for business, organizations, and society.
