Graduate School of Management and Innovation Transforms the Role of Thai Librarians into \u201cResearch Partners\u201d in the Digital Era<\/p>\n
The Graduate School of Management and Innovation (GMI), King Mongkut\u2019s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), organized a training program titled \u201cDeveloping Model Librarians into Research Assistants in the Digital Era\u201d on 24 February 2026. The initiative aimed to enhance the capabilities of librarians and information professionals from various institutions, empowering them to take on professional roles as research assistants in today\u2019s data-driven world.<\/p>\n
The program was led by Dr. Pathomporn Jitjaimun and Asst. Prof. Dr. Rachat Khambun, project leaders under the LOGIN Center, and was officially opened by Asst. Prof. Dr. Parames Woraseyanont, Associate Dean of GMI.<\/p>\n
This training highlighted the evolving role of librarians\u2014from traditional information service providers to integral members of research teams. In an era defined by vast and complex data, librarians are increasingly expected to act as \u201cresearch partners\u201d, contributing to the success of research through effective data selection, analysis, and management.<\/p>\n
Participants, including librarians and information professionals from diverse institutions, were equipped with essential knowledge and skills to support high-quality research processes. The training program covered key competencies aligned with modern research needs, including:
\n\u2022 Systematic Search \u2013 structured and comprehensive information retrieval techniques
\n\u2022 Research Data Management \u2013 ensuring data quality, reliability, and organization
\n\u2022 Digital Research Tools \u2013 applying modern digital tools to enhance research efficiency
\n\u2022 Communication Skills \u2013 strengthening presentation and collaboration capabilities<\/p>\n
\u201cIn a world driven by massive volumes of data, modern librarians are no longer just information providers\u2014they are essential research partners who help curate, analyze, and manage data effectively. This role is critical to the success of research today,\u201d said Asst. Prof. Dr. Parames Woraseyanont, Associate Dean of GMI.<\/p>\n
